The Small Details Worth Photographing
The rings get photographed at almost every wedding. But wedding detail photography goes a lot further than that, and it's usually the smaller, less obvious items that end up meaning the most once the day is a memory rather than an event.
The List We Actually Shoot
Beyond the rings, we're looking for invitations, shoes, jewelry laid out before it's worn, a grandmother's handkerchief tucked into a bouquet, place cards, the specific flowers chosen for a reason. If an item has a story — inherited, handmade, chosen for someone who couldn't be there — we want to know about it in advance so we make sure it's photographed.
We usually ask for these items to be set aside somewhere with decent light early in the day, rather than scattered across a hotel room where we're hunting for them between other tasks.
Why These Photos Matter Later
Couples rarely mention detail shots when we first talk about their wedding day — everyone's focused on the big moments. But years later, these are often the photos that bring back the most specific memories: the exact shoes, the handwriting on a place card, a flower that doesn't exist anymore because it was seasonal. Small frames, long memory.
